Immigrants become Alabama Emigrants

October 6, 2011

by D Robert Dunn

More than one headline today tells of immigrants, legal and illegal, who are leaving Alabama.  While I can sympathize with the adult who was brought here illegally as a child and who has since established a life and family here, I have greater sympathy for the law.  I would love nothing more than to be able to go into another country and live and work for a time and to take advantage of their social programs.  But if I were ever caught, I could not expect leniency.  I would have to expect jail time and eventual deportation.

No state should be a safe-haven for illegal immigrants or ANY person who is flagrantly breaking ANY laws of the land.

If the enactment of the new law in Alabama can cause illegals to flee the state, imagine how this country could change for the better!  When there is no other state to flee to, illegal immigrants go underground or leave the country!  Shame on the Federal government for protecting them through inaction, leniency, and flawed policy.
