In a remarkable bit of statesmanship, Hillary Clinton endorsed the killing of Muammar Gaddafi: “But we hope he can be captured or killed soon, so you don’t have to fear him any longer”. The statement was made during an address to college students at the University of Tripoli during her surprise visit to Libya.
I wasn’t sure that the United States of America had progressed to the point of calling for or hoping for the killing of a former world leader. No need to bring him to justice, just find him and shoot him.
Consider the capture of Saddam Hussein under President Bush and execution under the oversight of the new Iraqi government. Now consider the handling of Osama bin Laden’s execution at the hands of Navy SEALS who were no doubt operating under rules of engagement that came straight from the Oval Office (or Situation Room). And yes, Hillary was there in the room if you recall the photos.
Without regard for the fallout, Hillary flies into a predominantly Muslim country and essentially calls for the death of its leader.
Wasn’t Barack Obama going to work on repairing the image the world has of the US?
